How they appear, smell, behave, taste, sound and feel. - A good description will be reasonably focused to enable the reader to build a mental picture of the subject. - To stimulate the reader's interest, writers use each of the human senses as well as emotional triggers. They use detail to bring the picture to the reader. For instance, rather than saying the jungle is dangerous, they describe features of the jungle which make it appear threatening.
